The Research Base for Strengthening the Consciousness of the Chinese National Community (School of Journalism and Communication, Hebei University), established under the Hebei Provincial Ethnic Affairs Commission, was approved in June 2023. The base office is located in Rooms C3-503 and 506 of the Qiyi Road Campus of Hebei University, with over 40 full-time and part-time researchers. Guided by the United Front Work Department of the Hebei Provincial Committee and the Hebei Provincial Ethnic Affairs Commission, the base has consistently focused on strengthening the consciousness of the Chinese national community, providing services for decision-making, academic innovation, practical leadership, and talent cultivation. Leveraging the distinctive features and strengths of journalism and communication disciplines, the base specializes in research areas such as media narratives and discourse system construction of the Chinese national community consciousness, social media platform public opinion guidance and consensus shaping, the construction of the Chinese national image in the context of international communication, and the interaction, exchange, and integration among multiple ethnic groups. In terms of ethnic-related public opinion analysis and online governance, the base has produced nearly a hundred policy advisory reports over three years, many of which were adopted by the provincial ethnic affairs commission and received directives from Party and state leaders, demonstrating strong decision-making support capabilities.
